TSR Trail Maintenance Day - Friday May 25
The NYNJ Trail Conf. provides us with great hiking trails. This is our chance to give back to that effort. Our own Trail Maintenance Guru Dave Hogenauer will lead with chain saw in tow.
Date: Friday, May 25
Time: 10 a.m.
Place: Meet at the park offices of Waywayanda State Park Off of the Warwick Turnpike
Bring: tools for trail maintenance: lopping shears, bow saw or hedge clippers as well as work gloves
TriState Ramblers is assigned a section of the AT to maintain as part of its membership in the NY NJ Trail Conference. Our section is about 6 miles long, running from Iron Mountain bridge in Waywayanda State Park to the NY state line at the north end of the Bearfort Ridge above Greenwood Lake. We usually divide into two groups and one group walks from Long House Road to the State Line and back (about 6 miles). The other group walks from Long House to Iron Mountain bridge. As one person stops to cut back something on the trail, others pass him and stop further on to take care of something there. And so forth. So that we are constantly passing and repassing each other. This is our way of contributing to the trail system that we all enjoy. Bring lunch.
Leaders: Dave Hogenauer – Long House to Iron Mountain bridge section. 973-278-6268 and Fred Schneider - Long House to State Line section
