Snowshoe Sundays

Interested in trying snowshoeing but not sure how to start? The Morris County Parks Commission (MCPC) offers Snowshoe Sundays at Pyramid Mountain in Boonton Township from January through March, conditions permitting. For a fee of $5 plus $10 for snowshoe rentals, you can join a naturalist-led, approximately 2-mile, leisurely-paced afternoon hike to the Lake Valhalla Overlook and back (conditions could dictate a different route). They offer tips on snowshoeing technique and there is plenty of opportunity to get used to the snowshoes while traversing a level trail before beginning any climbs. The hike is appropriate for ages 10+ and is rated moderate. Pre-registration is required. Click here for more information.


The MCPC also rents snowshoes (for $10) for use at Pyramid Mt, subject to availability and conditions permitting, whenever the Visitors Center is open. So take advantage when it snows and venture out!
