The Land Conservancy of NJ acquired 40 acres of land in the Ramapo Mountains, in Mahwah, to protect and preserve the tract. The parcel is adjacent to the 13,000 acres of county and state parkland in Bergen County. Much of the land is rugged and difficult for hikers to traverse, but the conservancy will assess if it can use the land to continue the Cannonball Trail.
